The Hop was established in 1978 and was first housed in an old service station on Merrimon Avenue. The original owners began making homemade ice cream in the late eighties and we continue that tradition. In July of 2007 The Hop moved to the Merrimon Square Shopping Center to meet a growing demand.
The Hop is a place to hang out in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere where you can feel like part of the unique Asheville community. We treat our customers to an overall experience of friendly service, great tasting products, and a distinctive environment that harbors fun, creativity, and togetherness.
We now host community events, fundraisers, birthday parties, and live acts in our store while serving our homemade ice cream and organic fair trade coffees roasted at Asheville Coffee Roasters.
We use local ingredients whenever possible and love to team up with other businesses to create great flavors, like our new World's Best Carrot Cake ice cream.
